Herschel Walker was a standout from day 1 in Athens and now, even today, he is in his 50's fighting in the octagon. He is a warrior, the "Achilles", of our day and age. Going back in time and watching the highlights of years gone by or standing in Sanford Stadium with the roar of the Bulldog faithful, rumbling your feet, watching Murray, Gurley and Lynch destroy defenses, it is so easy to get caught up in the atmosphere, it is contagious.
The University of Georgia has a slogan that says, "Commit to the G", meaning commit yourself to the cause, to this team and to this family. Committing to the University of Georgia is very easy because of all the tradition, pride and history that comes along with calling yourself, a "Georgia Bulldog". Not to mention the fact that they are one of the premier teams in this day and age.
"Bulldog born, Bulldog bred...I'll be a Bulldog till the day I'm dead." Hearing these words from someone who calls themselves a true "DAWG" fan, you can sense the commitment of this person. This person exhibits all aspects of a dedicated fan. He verbalizes his dedication from the beginning of his time on this world to the end of his earthly days.
I want to ask you to "COMMIT TO GOD." It is so easy to get caught up in the world today because Satan is everywhere, trying to hinder us because he hates God and all he stands for. It may be the Facebook feed, a billboard, a television commercial, radio, friends or family. If you bring yourself to the fact that CHRIST is offering the only hope and eternal life through the gospel and that there is NOTHING going to take it from you, you can fully COMMIT yourself and this is the only acceptable way that one can please God.
You have heard of a "fair-weather fan" in the sports world. This person "calls" himself a fan, but it is only seen in the times that the specific team wins and when everything is good. However, when the team begins to lose or they have their share of ups and downs, that person is nowhere to be found. He stops talking about the team, he stops watching, he no longer wears the team jersey and he removes the sticker from his truck window. We see that man as a "band wagon'er" and he is not a TRUE FAN.
I want to encourage you not to be a "fair weather Christian" when things look dark. The God of heaven does not and will not allow a person into heaven with this characteristic. You may have seen this person in the congregation. They hear the Word of God (Romans 10:17), they believe and confess that JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD (Matthew 16:16), they repented of their sins and were BAPTIZED for the remission of their sins (Acts 2:38) and were added to the Lord's church by doing so. But as time goes on and hardships come along, they begin to fall away and slip back into the world of sin and refuse to repent and they are no longer faithul. That person has LOST the hope of salvation that they had at one time (Hebrews 6:6, Revelation 2:10.)
Friends if you have never obeyed the gospel, by repenting of your sins and confessing your faith and went into a pool of water to be buried for the forgiveness of your sins, THE LORD has said you are not a CHRISTIAN and heaven will not be your reward. If you are a person who has fallen away from your FIRST LOVE, you know you are back into a lost situation, please come back to Christ before its too late.
