Welcome to the series here on the PFP's blog called "Tract Review" where we will take a tract and, well, review it! "Does It Make Any Difference Which Church I Attend" is yet another great tract from Allen Webster of the Jacksonville Church of Christ. The Author of the Tract As has been mentioned previously in the series, Allen has been with the congregation in Jacksonville, AL since 1995 and has been preaching the Gospel since 1984. He is a prolific author writing a number of books and hundreds of tracts that are in publication. The Attributes of the Tract This tract is a wonderful read for the person seeking to understand more about the singularity of the church that Christ built and purchased (Matthew 16:18, Acts 20:28). Allen uses a number of meaningful illustrations to convey the message that an individual, "...can be saved outside of any denomination, but he cannot be saved outside of the undenominational church Jesus purchased with His blood and built in the days of the apostles." In addition to discussing the branches and vine analogy that Christ used to speak of His followers (John 15:1-5), and the false claims that the denominations of the world are those branches spoken of by clearly showing that "pear branches are not found on an apple trunk" Allen also discusses the normal guidelines used by individuals to choose a church with which to worship. In doing so he mentions the closeness of the building to their home, family traditions, the programs offered and even the prestige of the congregation or denomination in general, all of which being incorrect ways to determine the godliness of any church. |
In summation, "Does It Make Any Difference Which Church I Attend" is a wonderful resource to not only cement the Truth of God's word and His church into the mind of the believer but to teach, convict and convert the one searching for the undeniable truth that is the church of Christ.
