A few years ago, I was privileged to meet a brother in Christ named Chris Clevenger at a college devotional at Jacksonville Church of Christ in Jacksonville, AL. Then, I left Jacksonville to go to Memphis School of Preaching where I heard of a man named Robert Hatfield that preaches at a congregation which hosts lectureship the school often attends. I had the pleasure of meeting him and getting to know him when the East Hill Church of Christ allowed MSOP to go Pulaski and help them in their evangelism. I didn't know that these two individuals would, in essence, change the exhortation abilities of the church by launching something that is absolutely amazing - The Light Network.
In just over a month, TLN will have its live launch party and usher in an amazing work into the brotherhood. This "network" will be an area to which Christians can go, from which Christians can learn, and in which Christians can converse with/encourage their brethren.
But, what is TLN? - It is a podcast network which will have actual programs that will have weekly episodes, but more than that it will have live feeds with chat capabilities that will help us talk with one another and will add an entirely new aspect of learning.
The programs are amazing! There is one for current events (somewhat like a Christian news program - Culture Shock), one for men who are looking to act like men (Biblical Manliness), one for people who love to read and learn by way of print (The Book Club), a preacher's specific program that will help every preacher in their work (Preachers In Training), a program on salvation and all God has given us (The Salvation Podcast) and even two entire programs specifically for ladies that will help them in their walks with God and their studies of the Bible.
Chris and Robert aren't the only ones working behind the scenes to put forward this great work, however. They have a wonderful staff of hosts that will be leading our minds in the studies. And, more importantly, they have a great deal of Christians who will be advertising and watching/listening to TLN. Just as with the PFP, if it isn't for the "audience," for lack of a better term, there isn't a TLN.
I for one am extremely excited to point you toward The Light Network and, as editor of the PFP, will be helping them at every opportunity I have.
Please go check out this great endeavor and make sure to watch the pilot episodes that are being released leading up to the live launch party!
